What I missed

I loved time in Saugutuck but look what I missed!

Lake Michigan

Even though the lake water temp never topped 50 degrees, the air temp got up to 70 degrees only a couple of times, even though it was drizzly and gray most of the time, I still love spending time at the Lake Michigan shoreline in the Douglas/Saugutuck area. The weather just made for a different kind of vacation with more sightseeing and shopping, less sitting outside and no time in the water...but still plenty of reading, knitting, and catching up with Patty.
Because of surgery in July, this will be my only trip to the lake this summer. That's okay. I had a good time and there are plenty of other activities to keep me that lovely combination of engaged and relaxed that means summer.

School's out!

Guess how I plan to spend my summer...
....plus sewing and seeing our other grandchild (the camera shy Mitchell) and working on school stuff and maybe cooking and I do have to have surgery and cleaning out closets and....I love this early summer feeling!

New baby!

You know, they aren't kidding when they call a newborn "a bundle of joy". I don't think Sam and Gail could be any happier and I know that being a grandma does not get to be old hat. Nevaeh makes me very happy. What a beautiful child. What a beautiful gift.

I hallucinate: Part 2

Actually I did not hallucinate during part two of my root canal. I had done my homework this time around and the medication was just right. When he was finished the endodontist did say that this had been such a difficult tooth that he wasn't sure that this would save it. I decided to think positive thoughts and hope for the best...and so far, all is well.

Weed

I am really not sure why some flowers are called flowers and others are called weeds. Dandelions are pretty, cheerful, easy to grow, and my grandmother used to swear the the greens were a spring tonic.
How could anything as sweet as a violet be called a weed. I don't get it. I like a jumbled wild looking yard with a lot going on. I'm quite comfortable with my "weeds"!
